The Third Time's the Charm

written by esha

With a few more changes in mind, we were finally nearing the final cut of our film opening and me finally shutting down Filmora after having it running for a week (I duly thank my laptop for not giving up on me).

First Change: The New Shot (yet again)

The first step was to add a new talking head, who was preferably a male character. We decided to add another interviewee, and have him pose as a critic to give an opposing opinion than that of the fan of the duo. We therefore began to search for people who can act for us.

The first option: Myiesha's brother

Myiesha had her brother assume the role of the critic for us (seemingly on gun-point). There were quite a few issues which made us not choose this shot:

1, He's wearing a mask, therefore it was hard to make out what he was saying, and we wouldn't have been able to justify why he's wearing one in the film opening.

2, The background was nearly the same as the one in Myiesha's shot, which added to the feeling of monotony, which we were trying to avoid.

3, The greenscreen effect was quite obvious, which didn't make the shot very visually appealing.

The second option: Maroosh's brother:

Maroosh (surprisingly) took a nice shot of her brother, which was stable, easy to comprehend, and was clear in quality. He also looked and sounded much older than us, which added the impression that different age groups were involved in the film opening as characters. We therefore, decided to choose his shot.

*Thankyou to both brothers for carrying out their brotherly duties and allowing their sisters to force them to be in a video.

Second Change: Trimming the Flashback

Considering that our video was beginning to exceed 2 minutes and 30 seconds, I had to shorten the flashback scene to ensure it wasn't to dragged out.

Not only did I have to trim the footage, but also the voiceover, because it was too long as opposed to the new shorter scene. I therefore split the audio into 4, and thanked the lord that we asked a professional to do our voiceover, because her dialogue delivery and good quality audio made it much easier for me to cut out a whole sentence.

First Change: The New Music

We changed the music to a jazz track that Myiesha picked out. Read more about the music selection by clicking here.

I had to reduce the volume of the track to the same volume as the first audio and faded it in and out. This was the track we ended up using:

The FINAL CUT

Presenting the final version of Phlegm Fatale. It was a long road, but we got there.
